IMPERIAL SPA

The historical building of the Imperial Spa, dating to 1880, offers a beautiful representative hall in the style of the Viennese Neo-Renaissance and was designed by the most significant spa architect, Gustav Wiedermann. With its church acoustics, is ideal for concerts of early music, classical music, but also of swing or jazz music. The hall serves also for chamber theatre performances and for talks with the honoured guests of the spa.

BOŽENA NĚMCOVÁ THEATRE

This theatre building was built according to the designs of Viennese architect Hügl and was opened to the public in June 1868. However, even this theatre in the ancient style became too small in the 1920s, and so, in 1927, the municipal council decided to modernise the building, giving it its present appearance. The Neo-Classicist building of the architect Professor Artur Payer with decorative elements in the style of Art Deco by Johann Adolf Mayerl has retained its charm and cosiness even for today’s audience. It offers the genres of airy operettas, musicals, dance performances, ballets, but primarily theatre performances of the prominent Prague scenes and local volunteers.

MUSIC ON THE COLONNADE

The reason for constructing the spa colonnade was purely practical - patients are to stroll while taking the drinking cure to hasten the body’s absorption of the water, thus ensuring that the blood circulation gets the most therapeutic minerals possible. Thus, a promenade on the colonnade always belonged to and still is an integral part of the spa treatment, just as colonnades are connected with music, which uplifts and boosts therapeutic effects.

The Music Pavilion by the Park Café

• Concerts on the promenade are held from mid-May to the end of September. The concert schedule is published in the Františkovy Lázně Newspaper.
• In case of inclement weather, the concert is held in the theatre.
• Concerts are free of charge.

Pedestrian zone

• Concerts of marches, accompanied by the performances of majorettes, take place from mid-May to the end of September.

MUSEUM AND LIBRARY

Both cultural institutions together offer summer film showings in the garden of the museum, lectures and exhibitions focused on history and on travelling. The museum also administrates one of the ministerialis castles in the Cheb Region - Seeberg Castle, which offers concerts not only in the beautiful ceremony room, but also in the nearby church of St Wolfgang.

BRÖMSE GALLERY

The Brömse Gallery prepares exhibitions and art workshops for the public. It continues in the spiritual and artistic legacy of August Brömse - a native of Františkovy Lázně, who, in 1910, after finishing his studies at the Academy of Fine Arts in Berlin, became a professor at the Academy of Fine Arts in Prague.

This afternoon peaceful walk is also somewhat of a detective case. Where did the monument to Empress Sissi stand? How many statues of František decorate the park? UNTRADITIONAL MUSEUM TOUR

Discover the exhibits of the Františkovy Lázně Municipal Museum thanks to the expert commentary of historian Štěpán Karel Odstrčil. The current exhibit documents the history of the spa town from the time that the František Spring was discovered until the 20th century. Aside from much more, you can also see historical postcards from the spa, the wooden pipe of the František Spring from the mid-18th century, or the original Little František statue by Johann Adolf Mayerl dating to 1934.
